Mustard Seed - November/December 2004
How Does Good Look At "Little Ones"?
Feast of Tabernacles Report
Mustard Seed - November/December 2004
The Feast of Tabernacles 2004. A commanded assembly, hosted by The Canadian Church of God, and held at the Toronto Ski Club in Collingwood, Ontario. Brethren coming together into the presence of Almighty God, invited personally by Him to be instructed through His Holy Spirit. Never have I seen so many eager to learn, eager to serve, and to experience that joy that comes through serving. Jesus has promised that where two or three are gathered in His name, that there He would be. That was certainly apparent throughout the entire feast.
This was a comparatively small feast site, with sixty-five registered, and an average attendance of thirty-five to forty. A family feast, the family of God Almighty. The focus was on why we are here, for what purpose? It was not on "what kind of activities are there?" Brethren were there for fellowship. Fellowship with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ, and of course, with one another. Anxious to see old faces, excited about meeting knew. Establishing friendships that last. As services would end, the brethren stayed and fellowshipped, every day, no one was in a hurry to leave. We were there for a purpose, and that was fellowship, and to share God's Word, and how He was working in our lives.
Activities were focused on coming to-gather as the children of God. Pizza night, pot luck, fun night, a barbeque, and two evenings of Bible Study. No matter what the activity, the fellowship always turned to God and why we were here. None were excluded, all were welcome, none did without. The weather was excellent. The scenery breath taking. All a reminder of the wonders and creation of the Eternal. We are commanded to come to-gather and to rejoice before the Lord Our God, and Rejoice we did. A feast like none I have ever attended. We can only pray that others had as memorable, and as joyous a feast, as was had in Collingwood.
An added touch the Last Great Day, was having our last service at 3:30 pm. The brethren all stayed until after sundown, no one wanted to leave. The joy we felt was real, it is this joy that will sustain us and strengthen us throughout the year. We are left with the eagerness of coming to-gather again, in the years to come. What a blessing to come out of the world and to serve and worship our Heavenly Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, knowing that through them we have the strength to go back and face the world once again. And for that I say Praise God!
Truly we are the blessed of the Lord. Called of God Almighty, to be the children of God, to learn of His ways, to be in His Kingdom, called out of this evil and wicked world. Cleansed of our sins, through the blood and sacrifice of His Son, and our Saviour Jesus Christ. And now on top of all that, we at the feast have received the strength and the courage from the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ, to return home, go back into the world and know that He will never leave us or forsake us, and that nothing can separate us from their love. Praise God for all He has given us.
