Biblical or Scriptural Vertigo
"Biblical or Scriptural Vertigo"
Mustard Seed - September/October 2002
In early aviation history, a phrase was coined, "Fly by the seat of your pants," which is to say you fly an airplane by how you feel the airplane is moving in relation to your body sitting in the cockpit while flying. Before modem flight instruments were invented, pilots would utilize landmarks such as buildings, rivers, lakes and mountains or hills as reference points or guidelines along the way to their destination. To insure a straight and level flight, the pilot would match the wing tips with the earth's horizon as long as the view would not be disturbed by clouds or darkness; hense night flying was at a minimum.
In daytime flying, early pilots would often fly into clouds or fog banks and could see only a few feet ahead. But in about 12 seconds on the average, as stated in a medical journal, the pilot would experience "Vertigo". This is a physical condition of the brain which tells you that the airplane is climbing, diving or turning but the physical body does not tell you that. "Fly by the seat of your pants," rule of thumb, begins to conflict with the brain and the pilot becomes very confused, when the cloud or fog clears, the pilot discovers that he has been flying completely upside down.
So it is with denominational doctrine. Here in the U.S. alone there are approximately 235 different denominations that think they have "The Truth," but satan, through old wives tales and superstitions and people interpreting scriptures themselves, causes a doctrinal fog or cloud to cover the minds eye and thus distorts or completely hides the truth and thus many tenets are written, followed and believed.
Case in point. If you die a "Born again Christian," you will immediately go to heaven. A large amount of people in the Western Hemisphere believes that today, as you read this article. Jesus said in John 3:13, "No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from Heaven; that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven."
Satan tries to deceive even the very Elect in God's Church. Matthew 24:24 says, "For false christs and false prophets will arise and show great signs and wonders, so as to deceive, if possible, even the Elect." Scriptural vertigo is instituted even from birth, depending on where a person is born. Thank God for His Holy Spirit which causes members of God's church to, "Know the Truth," (John 8:32) "And you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free."
So as the pilot suffering from vertigo was in for a rude awakening, so shall many be in for a rude awakening when Jesus returns to this earth to set up His government to rule as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
