Mustard Seed - September/October 2002
Hello Brethren:
We have heard phrases such as, twenty-four seven, come into our everyday language; when we watch television or a movie, certain terms are added to our language. The term "Back-Up" is normally used when police officers are going into a home or business, this back-up is there for protection and a witness to all of the events that may occur.
We as teachers, (all saints are teachers) of the word of God need to have the word of God as a witness to what we do or say. When we are questioned or when we are teaching, we need to be careful about: "I feel," "I believe with all my heart," or "we believe." Without back-up as protection and the witness of the word, we can be ambushed, and hurt the people that we are suppose to help. This goes for speaking Elders, Sabbath school teachers and fellowship groups. When we enter the area of speaking to mankind about God, we need the back-up and the witness of the word of God. When we speak or write, it is an influence on some person's life, those words affect how that person sees or believe God.
All of us need to read James 3:1 and break it down and see the meaning of the words "masters, "greater," and "condemnation" and make a careful study of: I, II Timothy and Titus, highlight key verses in all chapters. After reading these books, ask the question: " Do I need a Back-up on what I am teaching?"
