Mustard Seed - November/December 2005
Does familiarity breed contempt? This is one of the cliché's that we have accepted for many years without question or thought You may have noticed that some of those that may have contempt within their family will more than likely have it for those without and the reverse can be true also.
The word familiarity is very close to the word family. In God's plan for sons and daughters in His Kingdom, the family concept is there. The creation of Adam and Eve (family) with the potential and ability to produce additional members to the family, shows His feeling toward family. Israel was a family, the Church is a family (father, bride, sons and daughters). Family members are to be familiar with each other. He did not start families to build and foster contempt for each other, but to appreciate and support.
The weekly Sabbath and the annual Holydays are family reunions of a sort. As we become more familiar with family members it should breed appreciation. All of us are of one blood (Jesus Christ), we have one goal, (the Kingdom of God)." For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels, and then he shall reward every man according to his works". (Mt. 16:27) This eliminates competition in the family.
Familiarity, will produce appreciation, support and agape. The core and foundation of our Heavenly Father's plan and goal is the family. We should start preparing now, for next year's family reunion, for the Festivals of God
In Christ service,
