Letter From The Editor
Mustard Seed - July/August 2006
Hello everyone
As I started to write this letter there were many thoughts of my friends within and without the Church. These thoughts were thankfulness for them, and great concern for others.
Have you ever noticed your reactions when one of your friend’s name crosses your mind?
Some of them bring a smile to your face and others a thought of concern. I think this is caused by what we know about them, and the direction of their lives.
How can this direction be seen? A simple formula is this: “Concept Equals Work and Energy.” Another way of saying this is, a person’s concept about what is important is shown by the amount of work and energy expended toward that goal. This is probably the main reason why marriages fall apart, one or both of the parties concept of marriage is small, therefore there is a very small amount of work and energy expended to repair and to continue to build their relationship.
If you are an employer or an employee you can see this small concept in those around you, their work and energy expended is just enough to make an eight hour day without being fired. These type of people will cause a great deal of concern for those working with them or the person that may have hired them.
When we are alone in some quiet place (driving, prayer time, walking, etc) examine your own concepts of your beliefs. What concept is there of God, Christ, serving, or of your future? This will give you the opportunity to see if your “Work and Energy” matches your Concept. When this formula is used, we will not delude ourselves so easily.
In Christ Service,
John Shavers
