Why Did Christ Speak In Parables?
Letter From The Editor
Mustard Seed - November/December 2006
Hello Brethren,
Keep Out, No Trespassing, Authorized Personnel Only, and Reserved. These are a sampling of signs that we see regularly, they are saying, “ you are not allowed” or authorized to enter, to sit or park in a certain place. In this society these signs are needed and are good for everyone involved, most of the time.
When we live as a child of the Kingdom of God, we can not tell the King of the kingdom, keep out, no trespassing or this is reserved, you are not authorized. In the book of Hebrews chapter four verse 13, it states “ all things are naked to him,” our thoughts, actions, and plans are naked before God. We have the erroneous idea that we can tell him, you are not authorized, or keep out because we have “reserved” this for myself. I am talking about all things that are a part of our lives.
We walk about daily with thoughts, phobias and various complexes about others and ourselves, then we put a Reserved sign on them telling God that we have retained this for ourselves. We even try to run away with these situations and thoughts, notice Psalms 139
Verses 1-12 “darkness hideth not from you.” Sometimes people (disciples of Christ) carry a large amount of problems and thoughts about their height, size, nationality, education, status in life, or status in the Church. These thoughts are covered with a “reserved” sign. When you read I Peter 5:7 “casting all your cares upon him, for the cares for you.” This verse gives us permission to remove all signs.
These ideas that we have are not going to be solved by us, because God has allowed this world to affect us in such a way that only God can solve the problems and cares. We have to remove the “ keep out sign” and allow God to solve the problems and cares that have been a load on our shoulders for too long.
In Christ Service,
John Shavers
