Mustard Seed -  November/December 2007

Hello Brethren,

When can we breathe a sigh of relief from these holidays?  We may think when it’s over for this year, that is a respite isn’t it?  But, have you noticed that each year these holidays are getting bigger and more effort is being put into them?  This is in spite of our nation and some people’s financial problems and needs.

There are scriptures telling us that as this age progresses to a close, that every area of our lives are going to be assaulted by  more and more Godless acts. Look at these scriptures: II Timothy 3:13: “ but evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.”    This verse tells the finality of what was written earlier: II Timothy 3:1-5: “this know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lover of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, …Having A Form of Godliness, but denying the power thereof, from such, turn away.”  When these days occur, we are to turn away from them.

This chapter (II Timothy 3) and II Timothy 4:1-4, gives us more than sufficient warning about day to day life, and when the holidays (Halloween, Christmas, Hanukkah, New Years, Valentine, Easter) just over load us with music, decorations, drink and peer pressure, this is a critical time for us to use our scriptural back-up.

In II Timothy chapters three and four, we are told how to off-set the overload that fall upon us; use the word of God.  We  are to follow  (II timothy 3:14-17) and we are to speak (II Timothy 4:1-4) what we know to be the word of God.  Jesus the Christ gave us the perfect example in Matthew 4:4, 7, and 10…”It Is written,” read what is written about these practices in the word of God.

In Christ service,
