Question:  Being Alone And Being Lonely Is There A difference?

Answer:

Alone:

This is not a feeling, it is a reality. Alone is being by oneself, there is no one else there. Being alone can be beneficial and very valuable.  Our God can feed you. There aren’t any distractions, interruptions and poor usage of time . You have the time to search yourself as is written in II Corinthians 13:5  “examine yourselves.”  We can examine (test) our actions that we have carried out over the previous days and weeks.  Being alone gives us time to meditate on who and what we need to pray and fast for.  Look at Jesus Christ’s example in Matthew 14:23,  “He went up into a mountain to pray”—He was there alone, read the remainder of the chapter.   In Luke 6:12 “He went out into a mountain to pray—all night to God.  The next day he chose his Apostles.  Look at the times when Christ was alone (by himself) or alone with just his disciples.  Jesus used solitude as a friend, not as an enemy or something to be afraid of.

Lonely:

When a person feels lonely—they can do things that are detrimental to themselves, an example is seen in Acts 5:1-14, Ananias and Sapphira  their actions shows that they felt left out, so they figured out a way to become a part of the whole, they lied. We see another example in Acts 8:9-23. Simon Magus, (in verse 21,) Peter told him “you have neither part nor lot in this matter, for your heart is not right in the sight of God.” Simon Magus was a lonely  man, this loneliness was in spite of his popularity and the people around him. Any true follower of Christ giving in to loneliness has forgotten Ephesians 1:3-14, especially verse 6, “ made us accepted (to God) in the beloved.”  We are accepted by our Holy Father, and we also have the words of Jesus Christ . In Hebrews 13:5 he tells us “…not to be covetous” (as Ananias and Sapphira, and Simon Magus were) “  I will never leave you nor forsake you.” The bottom line is how do you choose to handle your situation, by feelings or by the word of God?
