The Great Whiteout
Mustard Seed - September/October 2007
Imagine that you are a pilot waiting for take off. You take a moment to look at the beautiful starry night then suddenly you hear over the radio, “you are free and clear to navigate”. You push the throttle forward, hearing the twin engines come alive with power. You’re pressed back into your seat and moments later you’re flying at Mach 1 over the ocean, headed west into the clear and majestic sky. You find yourself hundreds of miles from land - your final destination a US Navy aircraft carrier. From your vantage point, you find yourself in awe with the glistening of the heavens around you.
Time elapses and your navigational system tells you that you are still a few hundred miles from the aircraft carrier. Your training tells you that you are now past the point of no return with an ever dwindling fuel supply. Considering all of this you become apprehensive when you hear a message on the radio, “Be aware - whiteout condition ahead”. Now you see a thickening of the clouds, visibility is reducing quickly. Within moments, faster than a blink of an eye, you are completely enveloped by a shroud covering of white. Nervousness grips you as you quickly see your situation becoming desperate.
Now there is no relying on your instinct, your visual abilities or on your own mental prowess. What do you do? As a trained pilot you will rely on the ILS (instrument landing system). You know this will guide you directly to the carrier regardless of the white out condition. You trust implicitly in this system to guide you to your destination.
You and I, as believers in GOD the Father and in Jesus the Christ have a similar “ILS”. It’s called the weekly Sabbath and the annual Holy Days. In this ungodly society, the world in which we live, we are blinded. We are in a “whiteout condition”, not always having a clear vision of our final destination and how to get there.
Exodus 19:4 --ye have seen that what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles’ wings and brought you unto Myself.
With our increased knowledge and observance of the Holy Days, we are brought by GOD closer to our final destination, HIS Holy and Righteous Kingdom.
Throughout Leviticus 23, we see GOD using HIS Holy Days to explain Israel’s escape from the bondage of Egypt, symbolizing for us our escape from the bondage of satan and this world.
The Fall Holy Day season is upon us now: the Feast of Trumpets sounds to gather us together. Leviticus 23:24: "Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall ye have a Sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation."
Leviticus 23:27: "Also on the tenth day of this seventh month there shall be a day of Atonement; it shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD." Leviticus 23:28: "And ye shall do no work in that same day: for it is a day of atonement to make an atonement for you before the Lord your God."
The Feast of Tabernacles frees us from the world, temporarily dwelling in the glimpse of glory to come. Leviticus 23:34: "Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, the fifteenth day of this seventh month shall be the feast of tabernacles for seven days unto the LORD."
Leviticus 23:35: "On the first day shall be an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein." Leviticus 23:36: "Seven days ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD: it is a solemn assembly; and ye shall do no servile work therein"
Finally we come to our final destination, where all of humanity comes to the full knowledge of God our Father and Jesus Christ, His son.
The Eight Day: Leviticus 23:36: ...on the eighth day shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD: it is a solemn assembly; and ye shall do no servile work therein."
Just as the pilot is proficient in the use of his “ILS” System, we must have absolute and imperative faith that thru the continual observance and learning of His Holy Days, we will become equally proficient, that we will finally enter into His Holy and righteous presence.
Leviticus 23:37: "These are the feasts of the LORD, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, to offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD, a burnt offering, and a meat offering, a sacrifice, and drink offerings, every thing upon his day: ..." We will hear His Holy and precious words, “Enter into the Joy of the Lord”.
Mat 25:21 His lord said to him, Well done thou good and faithful servant; thou have been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things enter thou into the joy of the lord.
