A Spiritual Lesson From The Mulberry Tree
Letter From The Editor
Mustard Seed - July/August 2008
Hello Brethren,
Have you ever had anyone talking to you, and you were able to see that they did not know what they were talking about? They were speaking words of ignorance on a subject or about a person, but out of courtesy you allowed then to ramble on, at least as long as you could take it, because the knowledge just was not there.
We were taught in a sales and marketing class at a community college that in order to be a good and respected sales person, you need “product knowledge,” that will get you acceptance, respect and sales. This will also give you a confidence to present your product to anyone at any time, know your product thoroughly. That would include the manual of the product, give some examples of usage and experiences with the product. Then you would be a confident presenter.
Did you know that our God wants us to be confident when we present to him? Look at Hebrews 4:1….“therefore let us come boldly (confident, cheerful courage) unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”
There is one more important scripture concerning confidence, it is: I John 5:14-15---“And this is the confidence the we have concerning him, that if we ask any thing according to his will, he hears us.” V-15 “ We know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.” When we put these verses together, we are told , “in order to have confidence, you need to know what you are talking about.” Brethren when you enter into your private place of prayer, carry your Bible along with you, then you will be able to check the word of God on his will. If need be you can check ‘case history’ of what God has done before, in the Old and New Testaments.
In James 5, we are given some wonderful information in order to fulfill these words. We need to know what we are talking about—here is the information—verse 6: “ The effective fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.” To be effective with God use his words, use his case history. In the book of Daniel, chapter 9, is a good example of an effective prayer.
PS:
The Mustard Seed is written mainly to ignite thoughts and actions in readers, hoping that they will expound upon these short letters and articles with their own personal study.
In Christ service,
